How we handle what you give us.
This page is written for founders, not lawyers. It says what we collect on this site, who processes it, how long we keep it, and how to stop follow-ups or have your data removed.

Who is responsible
FiftyKnots (Pty) Ltd, Cape Town, South Africa, is the responsible party for the personal information collected on this site under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Questions, unsubscribe requests and deletion requests go to hello@fiftyknots.com.
What we collect on the Idea Score form
- Your idea, the problem it solves and who it is for, as you type them.
- Any brief or deck you upload.
- Your email address, so we can send your full result, and your first name if you give it.
- Whether you ticked the follow-up box, when you ticked it, and the version of the wording you saw.
- Your score, the band it falls in and the reasoning behind each dimension, once they are produced.
- The technical details every website receives: your IP address, which we use to limit abuse of the form, and the result of the Cloudflare check that confirms a person, not a script, is submitting.
We do not ask for a phone number, a company name or anything about your finances.
Who processes it
Your idea is seen by the FiftyKnots team and by the services we use to run the score. By category:
- Our AI provider, which reads your idea and any brief and produces the seven-dimension score.
- Our email service, which sends your full result and, if you asked for them, the follow-up notes.
- Our CRM, where the record of your submission and your consent lives.
- Our secure database, hosted by our cloud provider, where the score and the lead record are stored.
- Our team messaging tool, where the team is told that a score has come in.
- Our error monitoring, which receives a report if something breaks. The content of your submission is stripped from that report.
- Our analytics container, which records that the page was viewed and a score was produced. It never receives your name, your email or your idea.
Nothing is shared beyond that. We do not sell your details and we do not pass your idea to anyone outside this list.
How long we keep it
- Uploads are kept for 90 days so a person can read what the machine could not, then deleted.
- If you go on to start a venture with us, your uploaded brief is copied into that venture’s own vault, so you do not have to upload it a second time. Only you and the FiftyKnots team working with you can see that vault. A file we were unable to read is not copied.
- The free text you typed (your idea, the problem and the audience), your first name and the written reasoning are removed from the lead record 90 days after your score if you have not gone on to work with us.
- Your email address, the score and the band are kept, so that a record exists that a score was given and so that an unsubscribe can be honoured.
- If you go on to start a brief with us, your material moves into your venture record and is kept for as long as you work with us.
Follow-up emails
- Your full result is emailed to you either way.
- Within a few days of your score you may receive one service email about the result you asked for.
- The follow-up on your score, and an invitation to the Kaufman market read (about three emails over a week), are sent only if you ticked the box on the form.
- Every email carries an unsubscribe link. You can also reply with the word "unsubscribe", or email hello@fiftyknots.com, and we stop.
How to unsubscribe or be removed
- Unsubscribe: use the link in any email from us, or email hello@fiftyknots.com with "unsubscribe" in the subject.
- Deletion: email hello@fiftyknots.com from the address you used and ask for your Idea Score data to be deleted. We remove the lead record, the uploads and the score, and confirm by reply. We keep only your email address on a do-not-contact list, so that we never email you again by mistake.
Other forms on this site
The contact form, the One Minute Pitch and NoRegrets collect what they show on the page and are handled on the same terms: seen by the team and the services above, never sold, and removable on request.
When this page changes
The date at the top changes with it. The Idea Score form records which version of the consent wording you saw, so your record can always be read against the words you agreed to.
